Graduation Requirements
The St. Paul's School diploma is awarded to the student who:
| 1. | enrolls in a minimum of 5 credits per term; |
| 2. | completes at least 25 credits during the Fifth Form and Sixth Form years and has missed no more than one term during his/her tenure at the School; |
| 3. | has no more than one Unsatisfactory final grade for any year-long course or the equivalent; |
| 4. | satisfies the requirements listed within one year of their anticipated graduation year at the time of matriculation. |
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: ARTS
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 3 credits |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 3 credits |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 3 credits |
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: HUMANITIES
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 19 credits; sequence of Humanities III (6 credits), Humanities IV (6 credits), Humanities V (6 credits). Then one required course in religious studies (1 credit) |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 13 credits; sequence of Humanities IV (6 credits), Humanities V (6 credits). Then one required course in religious studies (1 credit) |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 7 credits; Humanities V (6 credits). Then one required course in religious studies (1 credit) |
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: LANGUAGES
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 9 credits; three-year sequence in the same language |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 6 credits; two-year sequence in the same language |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 3 credits |
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: MATHEMATICS
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 9 credits or through Precalculus (minimum of 3 credits earned in residence at St. Paul's School) |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 6 credits or through Precalculus (minimum of 3 credits earned in residence at St. Paul's School) |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 3 credits earned in residence at St. Paul's School |
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS: SCIENCES
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 9 credits; recommended series of Physics First (3 credits), Chemistry (3 credits), Biology (3 credits) |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 6 credits; recommended 6 credits in two of the following: Physics (3 credits), Chemistry (3 credits), Biology (3 credits) |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 3 credits |
NON-ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: ATHLETICS

Matriculate in Third Form: 10 terms; Third Form year (3 terms: two must involve physical activity; three must be team-oriented), Fourth Form year (3 terms: two must involve physical activity; two must be team-oriented), Fifth Form year (2 terms: one must involve physical activity; one must be team-oriented – not mutually exclusive), Sixth Form year (2 terms: one must involve physical activity; one must be team-oriented – not mutually exclusive); swim test*

*New students are required to pass a swim test within 2 years of matriculation.
Physical/Team-Oriented Activities include interscholastic offerings, club/instructional offerings, and musical theater.
Team-Oriented Activities include interscholastic offerings, club/instructional offerings, community engagement programs, theater, and afternoon music (with permission from the instructor).
Physical Activity includes fitness. |

NON-ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
| 1. | Matriculate in Third Form: 2 Community Engagement credits |
| 2. | Matriculate in Fourth Form: 1.5 Community Engagement credits |
| 3. | Matriculate in Fifth Form: 1 Community Engagement credit |
Students can earn credits by:
| • | Participating in traditional Community Engagement (CE) activities (both afternoon activity and CE only projects). Students earn a half credit per term for participating in any of the following options: Service Learning Team, FIRST LEGO League Team, Academic Enrichment Program, McAuliffe Language Club, Random Acts of Kindness, Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science, Photo Foundations, Classics Program, Children's Learning Center, Kids' Tales, and Junior Pelicans. |
| • | Community leadership positions including Missionary Society Officer, Sokoloff Grant recipient, Friends Youth Mentor Program, Mish Project Leader, or Spring Service trip. |
| • | Additional options are also available for students with challenging schedules. Options include Pelicans Read Together-CE, or students may submit an application for approval to receive credit approval for winter, spring and summer break independent projects that meet the criteria for Community Engagement. |
| • | Accumulated Service Experiences (ASE) allow students to engage in a variety of community service experiences in non-profit organizations and earn credits for their accumulated hours (30 hours = 1 credit; a half credit option is also available for 15 hours of service). |
