Established in 2005 by E. Burke Ross Jr. ’69 to honor three generations of the Ross family who have attended St. Paul’s School and the family’s longtime residence in northern New Jersey, the Ross Scholarship provides full tuition and fees for each year of attendance at the School.
In addition to tuition and fees, the Ross Scholarship provides up to $10,000 each year for School-related expenses as best serves each Ross Scholar. These expenses typically include the following:

Travel to and from the School for two relatives for Family Weekend and Graduation Weekend
School-sponsored trips during vacations
Summer enrichment opportunities
A laptop computer
Fees associated with the college process
A book grant
Athletic items
Laundry service and summer storage
Insurance (if necessary)
Monthly allowance of $200
ELIGIBILITY
The Ross Scholarship is awarded annually to two students from northern New Jersey, specifically from Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Morris, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, or Warren counties.
Students interested in the Ross Scholarship must apply for financial aid.
SELECTION PROCESS
All applicants who live in one of the listed New Jersey counties will be considered for the Ross Scholarship. There is no separate application process. However, Ross Scholars will not only meet the admission requirements of St. Paul’s School, but will also exhibit the personal qualities necessary to develop into dynamic leaders. To be considered for a Ross Scholarship, a student must demonstrate a strong desire to attend St. Paul’s School.
Application materials and SSAT testing must be submitted to St. Paul’s School by January 15. Eligible applicants are invited to the Ross Scholars Reception, typically held in Newark in late November. At this event, a panel of Ross Scholars and parents provide information and answer questions.
Finalists are selected by the SPS Admission Office and then interviewed by members of the Scholarship’s Board of Trustees in Newark, N.J., in early March. Finalists will receive notification about their admission to St. Paul’s School on March 10.
