Big Red drop road game at Proctor

The “Big Red” traveled up to Andover, New Hampshire this afternoon to take on the Proctor
Academy “Hornets” for a third time this season, and at the end of regulation they skated off the
ice winless against the pesky “Hornets” in three tries. The “Pelicans” can’t be faulted for their
effort today, as they competed up and down the ice, but lacked the necessary offensive cohesion
to score in five-on-five play or on the power play to get the goal production to put the “Hornets”
on their heels.
In the first period of play, the home team opened the scoring midway through the period with a
power play goal, coming off a shot from above the left face-off circle to beat the St. Paul’s
School goaltender, Treva Murphy ̕25 (Manchester, NH). Murphy stopped thirty-seven of forty
Proctor shots on the day to keep his team in the game—especially in the early going when the St.
Paul’s School skaters were trying to find their stride. In the second period with the “Big Red”
down a man due to a penalty, Michael O’Brien ̕25 (Bedford, NS) and Lino Viau ̕26 (Los
Angeles, CA) broke in all alone on the Proctor goaltender from the red line. Viau made an
unselfish pass to O’Brien in front of the goalmouth and the “Maritimer” deposited the puck in
the upper corner to tie the game at one apiece. The game remained tied for most of the second
period, but in the last two minutes of play, Proctor manufactured a second goal in “four-on-four”
play to retake the lead, and they never looked back. St. Paul’s School missed on several quality
grade “A” scoring chances in the third period, and Proctor converted again in “four-on-four” play
when they scored on a “two-on-one” with eight minutes remaining in the game to seal the victory
and earn a good Lakes Region hockey league win.
