SPS drops first game of Avon Christmas Classic

In the opening game of the 2023 Avon Old Farms Christmas Classic, the boys varsity hockey
team took on hosts Avon Old Farms. The Big Red fell to the eventual tournament finalists, 3 - 2.
The St. Paul’s School skaters arguably played their best game to date, and showed they are a
team that can compete at the highest level of New England Prep Hockey. Goal scorers for the
“Pelicans” were Anderson Kilbourne ̕26 (Duxbury, MA) and Jack Stadheim ̕24 (Lyme, NH).
Blake Truchon ̕26 (South Burlington, VT) stopped twenty-seven of thirty Avon shots and made
several great saves at key moments in the game to keep the game close. Unfortunately, in the
closing five minutes of play, the “Winged Beavers” got the necessary go ahead third goal to seal
the victory.
