Big Red drop home match to Hornets

In their first home game and fourth Lakes Region game of the 2023 - 2024 varsity boys hockey season, the St. Paul’s School skaters took on the Proctor Academy “Hornets.” Unfortunately, the team did not have their best performance; they fell behind at the midpoint of the first period, did not capitalize on their power-play opportunities, and gave up a goal in the last minute of play in the period to head into the locker room down by a score of 2 - 0. In the second period, Michael O’Brien ̕25 (Bedford, NS) scored his first goal as a “Paulie,” when he fired home a shot from the bumper position on the power play to make the score 2 - 1. The Millville skaters were never able to close the gap in the middle period of play as they traded goals with one another—each team scored two goals a piece—the second period ended by a score of 4 - 2. In the last period of play, the Proctor Academy “Hornets” took advantage of several defensive miscues to score four goals, and the “boys of winter” skated off the Gordon Rink with a disappointing 8 - 2 loss to the visitors.
The “Pelicans” will need to regroup quickly as they have to travel to Kimball Union Academy tomorrow afternoon for a 1:30 pm puck drop against the perennial Lakes Region powerhouse.
