Big Red come out on top against Wildcats

The boys varsity hockey team traveled to Saxtons River, Vermont to take on the Vermont Academy “Wildcats” for their third game of the 2023-2024 Lakes Region hockey season. Although the “Big Red” skaters were not as detailed in their play as in previous games, they managed to earn a well-deserved 2-1 victory. Goaltender, Treva Murphy ’25 (Manchester, NH), was one of the “heroes” of today’s contest; he stopped 28 of 29 “Wildcat” shots on net — coming up with some of his biggest saves in the closing minutes of play. Lino Viau ’24 (Los Angeles, CA) continued his hot streak as he scored the first goal of the game in the first eighteen minutes of play. In the second period, Patrick Cooley ’25 (Rutalnd, VT) scored the winning goal of the game in four-on-four play when he and teammate Jack Stadheim ’24 (Lyme, NH) broke in all alone on the Vermont Academy goalie. The team will resume action on Saturday at 5:30 pm against the Proctor Academy “Hornets” on Gordon rink in the Hockey Center. We hope to see you there!
