Hornets Sting the Big Red

The Big Red travelled to Andover, NH for an evening tilt against the Hornets.  It was a very even matchup throughout the contest.  Two hard working teams who competed well.  The first half ended nil-nil with the majority of play from box to box.  The second half saw each team create a few more chances.  Kristof Lovegren ’25 was strong in the SPS net making several stops the few times the Proctor striker got behind the Big Red defense.  With under fifteen minutes to Proctor was able to get on the scoreboard as they converted on a corner kick with a strong header.  There was now an urgency in play for the Big Red.  They created several quality chances in the final minutes.  Randy Fu ’25 spread the ball, Brandon Cho ’24 pressured the ball and supported his teammates all over the pitch.  Ryan Ham ‘25 served a brilliant ball to the back post that Henry Wilson ‘26 made a great effort on that just missed.  Blake Truchon ‘26 hit a super one time ball from 20 yards out with just seconds left on which the Proctor keeper made a very nice save.  The Hornets held on for the 1 – 0 victory.

The Big Red now enters their final week of play as they face Lakes Region opponents Vermont Academy and Brewster on Wednesday and Saturday, both at home on Hunt field.  The squad is looking forward finishing strong in support of their five seniors.
