Big Red tops Berwick on Hunt Field

On a crisp fall Wednesday afternoon SPS took on a hardworking team from Berwick Academy.  The Big Red pulled out a 1 – nil victory with the lone goal coming from the foot of winger Henry Wilson ’26.  Henry received a well placed through ball from tri-captain Brandon Cho ’24 in the 39th minute of the first half and deftly slotted the ball into the back of the net.  It was all the Big Red would need as over the course of the game their possession play improved and they were able to create several chances. Cho, Will Iller’26 and Pat Cooley ‘25 all had chances in the first half.  The best chance of the half was a well-served ball to the back post to a streaking outside back Blake Truchon ‘26 who handled a tough volley that went just wide.  High marks to CDM  Samson Nyguen ’25 for his play throughout the day – calm, disciplined and simple.  Samson helped the squad keep the ball and change the point of attack.  Samson also created a great chance to finish in the second half.  Well done!  AJ Zoltowski ’27 had a super afternoon as both he and Cotler Sienkiewicz ’25, were dangerous attacking on the right flank.

Defensively, central defenders Carter Corbett ’25 and tri-captain Declan Schweizer ’24 kept the ball out of the danger areas.  The shutout was earned by goalkeepers Kristof Lovegren ’25 and Hunter Morton ’26 who shared the job in the net and communicated well for the Big Red.

Next up, SPS welcomes the Big Blue of Andover to Bogle-Lechner field on the Friday night of Family Weekend.  Love to see you there.
Go Big Red!
