SPS win away at Holderness

The SPS Field Hockey program traveled to Holderness on Wednesday for a back-to-back JV, Varsity showdown against the Blue Bulls. SPSVFH scored early in the first quarter when Cami Bell ’24 sunk a shot assisted by Maude Niemann ’25 on a short corner. The Pelicans pummeled Holderness’ goalie with several shots each from Kate Pura ’24, Caroline Humber ’25, Chelsea Bell ’26, Thayer Demers ’26, Parker Hanson ’25, Sam Moyer ’24, Caroline Frost ’25, Addie Pinard ’25, Niemann, and a downpour from Cami Bell. Alison Jankowski ’24 stood out on defense with her strong stick on the endline, fantastic recovery, and confident and clean transitions from defense to offensive play. Addie Hayne ’26, Pura, Humber, Cami Bell, Chelsea Bell, and Frost all worked together for fantastic passing plays on attack and phenomenal pressure against their offensive pushes. In the midfield, Moyer, Niemann, Perry, Demers, and Pinard worked well both defensively and offensively to move the ball into scoring position. Eliza Ekstrand ’24, Hanson, Jankowski, and Pinard in the back executed beautiful transitions and held down the foundation of the team. Goalkeeper Ally Martiniello ’24 made several key saves, especially on corner play, keeping SPS in the lead. Humber notched another tally for SPS with an unassisted goal. Holderness answered in the fourth quarter, bringing the score 2-1. SPS rallied mightily, ending the last minutes of the game with an incredible flurry of offensive pressure. SPS will play Andover on Saturday at home during Family Weekend.
