Lakes Region Season Opens at KUA

The Big Red made the short trek to Meriden, NH to the on KUA Wildcats.  This was the clubs first Lakes Region contest of the young season.  With each game the squads shape and discipline have shown improvement as they continue to play together.  The team has also learned that small mistakes or missed opportunities to clear balls from the box, can quickly end up in the back of the net.  Just before the midpoint of the half, KUA got their half chance and did not waste it. 1 – nil.  Tom Wang ‘24 had the best chance for the Big Red in the half. Will Iller ‘26 and Brandon Cho ‘24 applied pressure throughout the first 45 minutes.
The second half saw more quality chances by the Wildcats, but due to some smart and feisty defending and brilliant goalkeeping by Kristof Lovegren’25, the score remained close.  KUA netted their second goal of the afternoon midway through the half, but the boys from Millville continue to press and compete.  Kudos to fifth former Pat Cooley who moved from his midfield position to help as a center back as several injuries took their toll on the Big Red lineup.  A tremendous team player who finished strong with the help of the rest of the back line – Blake Truchon ’26, Carter Corbett ’25 and AJ Zoltowski ’27.

On Saturday Big Red have their home opener as they host the Doors of Deerfield on Hunt Field at 2:30. Come out and cheer the lads on.
