Meet the newest members of the SPS Board of Trustees

The new trustees bring the board to 26 current members, ensuring that it is composed of individuals who possess the critical skills, experience, and commitment required to meet its strategic and fiduciary responsibilities while reflecting the broad demographic diversity of the School community.

 

Will Dunn ’02 received a B.A. in 2006 from Tufts University, where he was a member of the Varsity Rowing team. 

 

Dunn currently leads communications for the New Ventures Group at Aon, the global professional services firm. He previously served as head of strategy for Aon’s Marketing & Communications function and chief of staff to the firm’s global chief marketing officer. 

 

Before joining Aon, Dunn served as a vice president at Global Strategy Group, the New York-based public relations and research company, and before that worked for many years in the Washington, Chicago, and London offices of Hill+Knowlton Strategies, the world’s oldest and largest public relations firm. He is active in supporting causes close to his family and previously led pro bono work for the Chicago High School for the Arts.

 

Dunn served as an SPS form director from 2002 to 2007 and has been a main agent and member of the Alumni Executive Committee since 2017. He currently lives in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, New York, with his wife, Ashley (Miller) Dunn ’02.

 

 

Tully Friedman has more than 45 years of experience in finance and 35 years as a private equity investor. Before forming FFL Partners LLC, he co-founded and served as one of two managing general partners of Hellman & Friedman. From 1984 through early 1997, Hellman & Friedman established private equity partnerships representing more than $2.5 billion and made substantial investments in 40 companies, including Levi Strauss & Co., Mattel Inc., Young & Rubicam, and Franklin Resources Inc. Previously, he was a managing director of Salomon Brothers Inc., where he founded the firm’s West Coast corporate finance department and served on the firm’s national corporate finance administrative committee. He has served as a director of numerous public and private corporations, including CapitalSource, Levi Strauss & Co., Mattel Inc., McKesson Corporation, and The Clorox Company. He has served on the boards of numerous non-profits and is currently vice chairman of the Telluride Foundation and a former chairman and current trustee of the American Enterprise Institute. He graduated with an A.B., with great distinction, from Stanford University and received a J.D. from Harvard Law School. His twin son and daughter, Alexander L. “Alex” Friedman ’17 and Allegra W. Friedman ’17 are SPS graduates. He lives in San Francisco.

 

 

Liz Robbins received a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1983. Her career in the field of employee benefits and communications began at Bos­ton-based Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation, and subsequently in­cluded corporate and consulting positions at Al­exander & Alexander Consulting Group, The New York Hospital, Goldman Sachs, Sun Life of Canada, and Abt Associates. A prolific and dedicated volunteer, Liz has been especially active in her children’s schools, including two years on the Northfield Mt. Hermon Parent Council. She has also served as a chair of the Wellesley Mothers’ Forum, assis­tant coach with Wellesley Youth Soccer, a member of the Wellesley Service League, and as a volunteer with Summer Search Boston. Currently, she is on the board of directors of The Cambridge Cambodia School Project, chapter chair for the AFS-USA intercultural program, regional selection committee chair for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program, a volunteer with The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum, and captain of her DBH Indoor Tennis League team. Her service to SPS is particularly noteworthy. She has served as a form agent (1989-94 and 2004-14), a main agent (1994-99), a form director (1999-2004 and 2014-19), treasurer and fund chair (2002-04), a member of the Alumni Asso­ciation Executive Committee (2002-04 and 2014-20), and as SPS Alumni Associa­tion president (2017-20). Her son, Douglas O. “Doug” Robbins ’17, is an SPS graduate. Robbins lives in Wellesley, Mass.

 

 

Shaun Rein graduated from McGill University with a B.A. in 2000 and received an M.A. from Harvard in 2002. He is the founder and managing di­rector of the China Market Research Group (CMR), a strategic market intelli­gence firm that helps Fortune 500 and leading Chinese com­panies, private equity firms, SMEs, and hedge funds. He is the author of The War for China’s Wallet: Profiting from the New World Order, The End of Cheap China, and The End of Copycat China. Shaun is regularly featured in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, and The Financial Times, and his op-eds have appeared in The New York Times. He frequently appears on CBS, NBC, CNN, BBC, NPR, CNBC, Bloomberg, PBS, and MSNBC. He formerly taught executive education classes for London Business School, was a weekly columnist for CNBC and Forbes, and wrote a regular column for Bloomberg BusinessWeek. He is also a sought-after keynote speaker. Rein served as an SPS form agent from 2000 to 2001 and as a form director from 2001 to 2004. He has been a member of the Asia Council since 2013. His step-sister, Hannah A. Dickinson ’99, and his niece, Wai Teresa Pan ’15, are also SPS graduates. He lives in Shanghai.

 

 

David Scully received a B.S. in Biology from Trinity College in 1983. He currently works as Vice Chairman at Caledonia Investments, a global investment management firm with offices in Sydney and New York. Prior to Caledonia, David served as a partner and chief marketing officer at Coatue Management, a hedge fund focused on technology, media, and telecommunications. He joined Coatue in 2005 after working in a similar capacity at Passport Capital and Cannell Capital, two long/short equity hedge funds based in San Francisco. Earlier in his career, he held various positions in institutional equities at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Salomon Brothers Inc., and J.P. Morgan. David began his career in sales at IBM in 1983. David serves as board chair of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, a position he has held since 2015. He is a member of the Board of Fellows of Trinity College and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. 

 

David served as an SPS form agent (1989-95 and 2005-09) and as a main agent (2009-14). He has been a non-trustee member of the Investment Committee since February 2019. His SPS connections include his father, John A. Scully ’49, uncles, Scott W. Scully ’40 and David W. Scully ’45, brother, Benjamin P. Scully ’82, and cousin, James Purviance ’81. His son, Benjamin W. Scully ’21, is a current SPS student. He lives in Glen Cove, N.Y., with his wife Lisa and their six children, three dogs, and their bees.
