Music

    • Orchestra performance

Music is in the air we breathe at St. Paul’s School. The sounds of the orchestra, choirs, solo singers, jazz band, and other student ensembles practicing for upcoming performances emanate from the Music Building and Chapel on any given day. Sign up for a course in basic musicianship, music theory, composition, sound design, or take private lessons from any of five full-time or 25 visiting music teachers. Music rehearsals happen in the early evening, early morning, and occasional lunchtimes, so students do not need to choose between music and other activities.

Approximately 30 percent of our students take music lessons, and more than 25 percent of the student body is actively involved in one of the ensembles. There is a vibrant mix of school-sponsored musical groups and student-run musical groups and clubs, including three a cappella groups performing throughout the year.

“Music is everywhere at SPS. Whether it’s reading sheet music for hymns in Chapel, listening to performances, the Chapel choir, or just playing music on the path.”
